The first time that Erin and Leroy saw each other was at a government training course at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Since they were both government new hires through the Engineer and Scientist Development Program (ESDP), they were required to take several training courses. By complete chance, the first three of these courses they had signed up together in. The very first class they were together in, they didn’t even speak to each other.
The second time that Erin and Leroy saw each other was in the second one of these courses. At this this time, Erin inquired about Leroy’s Legend of Zelda lanyard having remembered seeing her brother Zachary play that game for hours during her childhood. They talked over the length of this two-day course about many things.
During that weekend after the second meeting, Leroy thought a lot about Erin, and figured he should ask her out to lunch after the next course they would have together, which would be next week. Leroy e-mailed Erin and asked her if she would want to go out to lunch after the next course they would have together. Erin thought about turning him down, but she figured that she might as well.
When the third course they had together was over, they went out to lunch at the Coffee Quarter. Erin forgot her wallet, so Leroy ended up buying her lunch. They talked for almost two hours, and the rest as they say, is history.
